At Sacred Heart College, the Mission Centre project followed the demolition of existing hostels and hall buildings, creating an opportunity to establish a new front-facing facility at the heart of the campus. The brief called for a building that could support cultural, creative, and sacred functions within a single, flexible environment.
BSM Group Architects designed a space that responds to these diverse needs through adaptable planning and clear spatial organisation. Recycled timbers were used to define the sacred end of the building, establishing a strong visual and symbolic connection to the grotto beyond.
The surrounding landscape was carefully shaped to manage traffic and pedestrian movement while also supporting cultural practices, including formal welcomes, with integrated tiered seating.
Positioned prominently at the site entrance, the Mission Centre provides a strong identity for the college and a versatile gathering space for its community.
